Sam White is a 25 year veteran in the aerospace and defense (A&D) industry who offers a unique blend of business development, capture management, strategic planning, and lobbying support to capture and close business in Washington DC. Over time, he became intrigued with the interaction of the Hill and business development functions. He noticed that most consultancy firms in DC offered lobbying or business development support, but very few firms focused on both as part of a seamless strategic plan. Sam established Capital Associates to assist firms to operate like their major counterparts in town, giving them a clear and precise voice in DC to get things done. Today, his career sales approach nearly $1B in the A&D industry, with a focus on manufacturing, logistics support, regulatory compliance, Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO), and aircraft operations. Sam also has extensive experience in business dealings with VIPs to facilitate non-profit initiatives, from briefing former Presidents H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter to arranging celebrity air transportation services for Bill O’Reilly and George Clooney.
Prior to establishing Capital Associates, Sam served as Evergreen International Aviation’s Sr. Vice President for Washington DC operations. Evergreen is a global aviation services provider employing about 3,000 employees worldwide with sales of over $900M. In this role, Sam performed the same function as those now offered by Capital Associates. As a Board member of the company, Sam also was an integral part of Evergreen’s M&A initiatives identifying and qualifying the VTGroup for its acquisition of Evergreen’s Unmanned Systems Company. Representing HMS Software as its Director of North America sales, Sam provided manufacturing execution system (MES) solutions supporting mission-critical production efforts for the A&D industry, culminating in a $6M implementation with a major heavy vehicle manufacturer. Sam has extensive experience working with and for small businesses, having served with MAC Aerospace Corporation, then an 8(a) certified organization, where he devised and implemented an aggressive marketing campaign resulting in the Washington Business Journal recognizing MAC as one of the top 25 aerospace companies in the Washington DC metropolitan area.
Sam successfully established S.P. White and Associates, Inc., an aircraft sales and brokerage firm earlier in his career. Prior to that, he worked for Northrop Grumman (formerly Grumman Aerospace) where he was a logistics engineer supporting production efforts on the F-14D aircraft. Later, he was one of seven employees selected to transfer to Reston, VA to establish a new operations division, Grumman Space Station Program Support, reporting to Apollo 13 astronaut, Fred Haise. Sam was part of an elite team tasked to develop assembly processes and best methods for managing the assembly phases of the Space Station.
Sam currently sits on the Board of the American Freedom Foundation and is Program Chair for the Washington DC Chapter of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). Sam is a graduate of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a BS in Aviation Technology. He also holds an Airframe & Powerplant mechanics license (but never quite figured out what to do with that). He enjoys aviation, sports cars, and sailing.
